DevOps Engineer

Location: New York / Remote 

We are a software startup that specializes in developing innovative cybersecurity products. We are seeking a skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team building our flagship product, a browser security platform designed to empower Managed Service Providers (MSP) to better and more efficiently service their business customers.

As a DevOps Engineer at Atakama, you will work alongside a dedicated group of developers to help architect and build our product. We embrace the agile methodology and encourage creative and adaptive teamwork to solve complex problems.

Description

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring the seamless deployment and operation of software applications in a Kubernetes environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • CI/CD Systems: Write, maintain, and optimize Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) systems to streamline the software development lifecycle
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Design, create, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Kubernetes Management: Deploy, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot software applications within Kubernetes clusters, ensuring smooth operation and quick resolution of issues
  • Production Uptime: Maintain the uptime of production environments, responding to incidents in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime and service disruptions
  • Scalability & Performance: Ensure the infrastructure is scalable and performs well under varying workloads, implementing solutions to handle growth and demand efficiently
  • Automation & Optimization: Automate and optimize development and deployment processes to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and accelerate delivery timelines
  • Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of software and systems, providing support and expertise as needed
  • Internal Tooling: Develop and maintain internal tooling to support development, deployment, and monitoring activities
  • Documentation: Write and maintain clear, comprehensive internal documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and consistency in operations

Qualifications

At least 3 years with the following:

  • Experience working as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role
  • Hands-on experience working with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with CI tools such as GitHub Actions or similar
  • Experience using AWS or another cloud provider.
  • Experience working with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Nodejs
  • Applying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts with tools like Terraform

Must also have:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent area of study
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus and Datadog
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud and containerized environments
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
